Start Today!

What does it mean to make your bed in the morning? It means to start your day with a small but important victory. This small task can change the course of your day. After all, the little things are important. Jesus Christ taught this when it was said that "by small and simple things great things are brought to pass" (Alma 37:6). He testified of this truth through His actions. The boy made his humble offering of five loaves and two small fish, something infinitely too small for the vast crowd of 5,000 people. The Lord took this meek offering and turned it into something grand, wherein they fed every last one.

What does this look like in my life? A humble tithe that doesn't compare to others, but it can bring the needed blessings in my life. As I perform this small task of pay my tithing, I am showing the Lord that I know that in His hands it can do so much more than in mine. Maybe the extra 15 minutes of studying is the difference between an A and an A-. You can never be certain what difference it will make, but there will surely be one. Taking time to celebrate even the small victories, like getting a referral, a good review, or even a sale, can help you stay positive and motivated.

In my life, I am excited to see the fruits of my labor as I see how God has multiplied my efforts into things I could not have imagined. Seeing the habits that I have formed and knowing that they were due to small but constant efforts will bring the sweet feeling of joy knowing I have done well. I am excited to help others form good habits that will help them achieve their goals and dreams.

Integrity: what does it mean? Google says it is "the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles; moral uprightness." To a young Joseph F. Smith, it meant staring death in the face and staying true. "Yes siree; dyed in the wool; true blue, through and through" he said to the gunman, not knowing this act of integrity would actually save his life. The line 'dyed in the wool' caught my attention. What if our actions really were dyed in wool for all to see? Would they see the red blood of lies that we tell? Or maybe the black stains of pain we have cause others. Hopefully, they see the yellow acts of service or blue charity. Integrity is doing the right thing even when no one sees what we do in the dark.

In business, this means being honest with the deals we make with others. Choosing to be honest or fair even when we could benefit from lying. Giving all people fair opportunity no matter their religion, history, or race. Being truthful about a product even if it means losing a customer. Integrity could also be owning up to mistakes, whether they are yours or your company's. This trait will help you in your life more than you could imagine, as you become a trusted person.

To have integrity is to be like Christ. He prayed even when no one was around, loved when no one else would, and was honest on his dealings with all. I am exited to learn more and experience the trial of integrity in my life. To truly show my Father in Heaven that I am willing to be good no matter what. When people ask about me, I want them to hear that I am true to my beliefs and fair to all. I can do it now.
